The key word here is gluttony. Proprietor Franklin Reider at Gol! maintains the illusion of unlimited feasting at this fixed-price Delray Beach rodizio: the gauchos wielding dripping skewers of many cuts of beef, the cart wheeling around plank-seared salmon or the fixings for caipirinha cocktails, the unlimited trips to the trans-fat-free salad bar (marinated artichoke hearts, grilled eggplant, hearts of palm, caesar salad, glistening spears of asparagus, butternut squash soup, black beans and rice). Carnivores will delight in comparing morsels of different cuts of meat -- the satisfying chewiness of sirloin against garlic-laced chunks of tenderloin, a crusty, fatty end of bottom round against a well-marbled slice of New York strip. There are also fat pink shrimp grilled in the shell, linguica sausage, nicely bronzed little chicken legs, and seared baby lamb chops. Reider's excellent handpicked wine list features Malbecs and Carmeneres from Argentina and Chile and includes dozens of interesting wines served by the glass. Getting seated will depend on a reservation, because Gol! is definitely a local hot spot.

Your prissy, eco-friendly diet has lost a bit of its luster in the past year or so -- what with the poisoned spinach, tainted onions, and deadly peanut butter. Isn't it time you started rockin' with the rest of us? The party's in full swing at Gol!, an all-you-can-scarf rodizio opened this year by an American couple who learned their stuff in Brazil. There are no finicky illusions at work here. You know what you're eating and where it comes... More »
