We were counting the days until this place opened, because it's owned and operated by Matt of Matt's Big Breakfast, a place we truly love. We weren't disappointed: The coffee is strong and freshly brewed by the pot; we recommend the Smoke Jumper-a delicious, complex espresso drink that will wake you right up and leave you that way all day. The pastries are decadent, and the ambience is friendly and neighborhood-y. Happy-hour pricing at a coffee house? You betcha-fifty percent off all baked goods after 3 p.m. every day, and all of it made with local and organic ingredients. Whatever time of day you go, order a fresh-made bagel and ask for the jalapeno cream cheese. You'll be glad you did! Giant shares space with Bunky Boutique and is located right across from Burton Barr Library, which makes us feel very downtown as we sip our tasty java there.
