Serving up authentic Sicilian cuisine since 1989, Gian-Tony's on the Hill offers a taste of the classics. Their extensive pasta list includes capellini alla Gian-Tony's - angel-hair pasta with tomato sauce, onions, Italian ham and white wine. Veggies used for their dishes come straight from their on-site garden. The menu also features chicken, veal, seafood and steak, such as the Ripieno filet, a nine-ounce steak breaded and stuffed with prosciutto, cheese and mushrooms. All dishes are prepared by owner and head chef Tony Catarinicchia.
This restaurant was completely awful in every way possible. I went there last Wednesday, May 15th with out of town company. Th air conditioning was not on in the restaurant - I had to complain to the waiter twice before they turned it on. The water was condensing on the outside of the glasses and the temperature had to be 85 degrees in the restaurant. The waiter disappeared after taking our order and someone from the party had to flag own a busboy to give us some parmagiano cheese. The food was TERRIBLE - think of your standard Italian food franchise (i.e. Pasta House, Olive Garden, etc) - these chain restaurants have food 300% better than what was served @ giantony's. The salad was old lettuce (looked like it was recycled from lunch) soaked in italian dressing with a few red onion thrown in. The pasta was tasteless - out of 6 people, no one liked their food. Do not spend your money here - I am not picky- I have lived in St.Louis my whole life (for 56 years) and this was the worst dining experience I have ever had on the Hill: F in every area - food, service and ambience.

There's nothing more relaxing than lounging in a steaming hot tub, letting the hot water soothe away the day's tensions. For food, the equivalent of relaxing in a hot tub has to be sitting in a simmer... More »
You don't notice the best service. It is quiet, self-effacing. Your server recites the day's specials letter-perfect while uncorking and pouring a taste of your wine. You don't even realize that he has replaced your knife between courses until you see him walking away, your old, dirty knife in his hand. He (or she) is formal, but never snooty. He never refers to you in the third person -- "What will the lady have?" -- and when you mispronounce a dish, there is no instant... More »
