For a while, it looked like the Ghost Building didn’t have a ghost of a chance. Built circa 1892 for Allen M. Ghost, ninety years later it was in the way of “progress” downtown – and dismantled. But a smart developer marked each stone, then put the building back together on 18th Street, where today it is the home of Ghost Plate & Tap, part of the Breckenridge-Wynkoop empire. The bar pours the best beers from the members of that group, and the menu features some of the dishes that have proved popular at both Wynkoop and Breckenridge restaurants. And there are a few additions, too, including a version of the Pueblo slopper. This is great bar food, served in a beautiful Victorian building haunted by the memory of great meals past…and future.
