Description

From capsule-like private karaoke rooms, to high-tech Toto toilets, to cartoonishly cute waitresses who look like they hang out in Harajuku, Geisha A Go Go brings trendy Japanese kitsch to Old Town. The menu runs the gamut from dumplings and hot rock dishes to seafood entrees, and while it won't satisfy your craving for traditional Japanese cuisine (this tavern is more about the scene than the cuisine), it will help you soak up a Hello Kitty cocktail or some fruit-infused shochu.

  • 2011 | Best Place to See an Authentic Pachinko Machine

Walking into Scottsdale's Geisha A Go Go, one is overwhelmed with sights and smells. Sashimi-grade tuna puts salivary glands to work at first sight. Flavored sake in massive taps ensures that a night of drunken karaoke is not far off. But the first real sign one sees of the Land of the Rising Sun is a trio of actual pachinko machines waiting for you inside the front door. Pachinko is a Japanese cross between pinball and slot machines, usually with blinding lights and video screens playing... More »

  • 2008 | Best Karaoke for Introverts

We're free as a bird while singing along to tunes in the car or alone at home. But the word "karaoke" always makes us want to run and hide because we're too desperately insecure to croon in front of people. That's why we think the private karaoke rooms at Geisha A Go Go -- one of the newest nightclubs in Scottsdale -- is so ingenious, the perfect cure for our rickety self-confidence. You and up to 17 of your friends can beat the stage fright and sing your favorite Top 40 and... More »

  • 2008 | Best Bathroom

When our dining companion slipped into the bathroom at this swanky Scottsdale eatery and stayed a while, we assumed she was sniffing some Bolivian "marching powder" -- or getting it on with a hot waiter. But when she returned, she wasn't runny-nosed or chatty; she was rapturous. "Dude, you have got to try the toilet," she breathed. And for once, she was right: These W.C.s really are to die for, from the heated toilet seats to a seat that lifts and rotates its plastic sheath on cue for... More »

That's why we think the private karaoke rooms at Geisha A Go Go — one of the newest nightclubs in Scottsdale — is so ingenious, the perfect cure for our rickety self-confidence. You and up to 17 of your friends can beat the stage fright and sing your favorite Top 40 and classic rock tunes for $30 to $100 per room per hour (rates vary depending on room size and demand). And here's a tip: Go on a slower night because there's a good chance that you can score one of the rooms for free. Now that's something to sing about.
