Gaslamp Restaurant & Bar is an amalgam of imbibery and live music venue. The sizable stage is home to live evening music acts. Eighties tribute band Knyght Ryder is a Friday night staple while DNA has a Thursday residency of kitsch covers, (think "Afternoon Delight"). Gaslamp has a gothic-chic feel with its wrought iron embellishments and touches of red lighting. The beer is bottled and the bar is fully stocked. Aside from $3 happy hour specials on beer and well drinks, libations run an average of $7.
Hey, this is a recession! We don't have the money to pay a cover charge! Thus, the Gaslamp wins this year because it's that place to go and get your freak on for the love of dance. Aside from the waived cover, Gaslamp's dress code is relaxed and casual; some people finally realized how hard it is to break it down in stilettos. And suits for that matter. The dance floor in this wide-open space is massive (flanked by two bars), and whether you're into DJs spinning hip-hop and Top 40 or prefer a live '80s cover band, the Gaslamp hosts it all. So, wear what you want, dance to what you want and shake it spaciously—it's all free.
Never eaten there, but the drinks are good. Nice place to see bands perform or dance.
It's a fun place to go to on the weekends or when a live band plays.
