Funny Bone may well be St. Louis' premiere venue for comedy. And while this friendly Westport Plaza club features national touring comedians, it also welcomes all varieties of local comic talent. The space is moderately sized, and, sure, it can get a little cramped, but that's the joy of going to a comedy club: Close quarters spread infectious laughter. Once you get some of their comedy-themed drinks in your system, trust us. All those other laughing sardines are certain to become your new best friends.

i couldn't handle the smoke and out waitress, patti, couldn't be found... so, when my date went to the restroom, i went and paid the bartender instead... when my date came out of the restroom our waitress, patti, started screaming at him because he hadn't paid her and she thought he was trying to leave- i didn't see this because i went to the restroom while he held my things...he didn't realize i had already paid, so he paid again... on the way home we realized what each other had done and, when he checked his atm transactions the next day, he found he had been charged twice with tips added both transactions... i called the funny bone and was told the manager would return my call... i never heard from them... i would recommend going to a different funny bone and passing westport by
Worst experience at Westport Funny Bone - ever.
Last night my girlfriend took me to Westport Funny Bone for my birthday. Before we left there, when the last comedian was still performing, the manager came over, whom I've never met, and started yelling at us and cursing us - dropping the F### bomb loud enough for everyone in the place to hear - all over a slice of pizza that I'd already paid for! Proper, adult, NORMAL behavior - take someone into another room and explain things. Nutcase or alcoholic? You decide!

Worst experience at Funny Bone Westport. I ve never been treated so horribly in my entire life. There is a server named Patti who should of retired 20 years ago that works there. After paying my bill she completely went off on me because I wouldn t pay for someone else s drink that she mistakenly placed on our bill. Calmly I explained what happened and she totally cussed me out explaining she would have my fat ___ kicked out of here. After speaking to the so called management I was told, yeah that s Patti for ya that s jus tha way she is. Been here like 20 years. No apologies or anything. This run down, disgusting, smoke smelling dump should be shut down. For myself and everyone I know we will never return.
Those eager to try standup have no shortage of open-mic options: O'Malley's in Benton Park, Fitz's in the Loop, Nick's Pub in Cheltenham. But if you're serious about doing comedy, Tuesday night's open-mic at the Funny Bone in Westport Plaza is the venue. For starters, it's a bona fide comedy club, with stage, lighting and seating set up specifically for the art form. Yet the most crucial element is the human one. There's much to learn from the wide variety of amateurs who hop onstage and... More »
A comedy club is as good as the talent it books. With Howard Stern Show regular Jim Florentine, Bob and Tom favorite Mike Birbiglia, Last Comic Standing winner John Heffron and SNL vet Kevin Nealon treading its brick-backed stage, the 'Bone is St. Louis' hot standup spot. It sure doesn't hurt that the room feels cozy but not overcrowded, the drink prices are reasonable, and admission often includes access to the Backstreet Jazz & Blues club next door. The chain carries a legacy:... More »
