Fry Street Tavern

Opened in 2001, this Fry Street area bar is named for the historic hub of late-night bars, coffee shops, eateries and head shops in Denton that are all within walking distance to the University of North Texas - and its many dorms. That makes Fry Street Tavern a popular between-class haunt after it opens at 3 p.m., as well as a busy after-hours watering hole. The blue and white awning outside seems a bit out-of-context, because inside, the bar's design is green--as in "Go, Mean Green!" UNT logos and memorabilia are positioned at every turn. Even the walls are painted a UNT shade of green.
