A sports bar and grill, with an emphasis on the sports bar side, Friendly's patrons can enjoy the Cards game or shoot some pool inside or head out to the beer garden and play washers or just kick back and relax after a hard day's work. Given Friendly's sports theme, the menu highlights ballpark faves such as burgers and dogs. Appetizers include mini tacos, hot wings and a jumbo pretzel. Sports fans can also enjoy scoops of fresh popcorn while they watch the game. Happy hours run from 3 to 6 p.m. and from 10 p.m. to close and offer discounts on beer and well drinks. Home-team specials include $1.50 burgers, dogs, nachos and brats.
A true neighborhood bar doesn't have to be within striking distance of your front door to make you feel at home. What matters most is the experience you'll find inside these cozy confines, many of the... More »
It's hard not to have a team to root for in this year's NCAA tournament with Saint Louis University, Mizzou and Illinois all three getting an invite to the Big Dance. Now the only question is this (... More »

Pity the cities that don't have MLB, NFL, NHL and NBA teams, or a bar like Friendly's -- one that offers food and drink specials whenever any home team plays (thanks, Mizzou and Saint Louis University, for filling in that missing NBA slot for St. Louis). And it's true, the Rams might not be long for this city. But before LA offers us an In-N-Out Burger franchise in exchange for a football one (sold!), let us rejoice in the cheap gluttony that is Friendly's menu. It's a cash-only affair,... More »
What is a grown-up's birthday party but another great reason for the gang to get together and drink? Only this time, someone is one year older -- and maybe some singing is involved. Skip the beer-bottle cleanup this year, and celebrate at south city's home away from home, Friendly's Sports Bar & Grill. There's plenty of space and tables for the group, inside or out, and more games than you can count. (OK, you could probably count them, but you would lose track and have to start... More »
There's a fine line between "keeping it real" and "straight-up trashy." Friendly's Sports Bar and Grill sits just a smidge to the "real" side of that line. And that, in turn, is what makes Friendly's so glorious and deserving of the title "Best Neighborhood Bar." No pretension here, no fern-based décor. Booze comes cheap, except during random times like "$1.50 Well Drinks When the Home Team Hits a Home Run or Scores a Goal or Touchdown" -- when it comes even cheaper. A very... More »
