Freebirds World Burrito is a counter-service eatery with a sense of humor. From its décor (handmade aluminum foil figurines line one wall) to its menu (burritos come in sizes such as "monster" and "super monster"), Freebirds fosters an atmosphere of fun. And with all the options available, ordering a burrito at The Bird is like a mini-adventure. Opt for the grilled chicken, black beans and wheat tortilla one day, then try the steak with extra rice and guacamole the next. Mix things up; it's quite liberating. Just don't forget The Bird's barbecue sauce. Whatever combination you concoct, this'll make it better.

Not only was Freebirds first with the idea, they do it best by offering better ingredients and more of them. Start out with your choice of burrito--roasted carnitas (pork), grilled steak, grilled chicken or veggie--and the... More »
Well, Dallas finally got The Bird. First it was College Station (in 1990), then Austin (in 1999) and Houston (in 2001), but it seemed Big D might get lost in the shuffle. So when Freebirds World Burrito opened this spring in the Old Town shopping center, the lines that formed outside made it clear that this grand opening was a long time coming. Freebirds makes the best burrito this side of the border, any border, ever. But the customer has a lot to do with that, considering all the options... More »
