Oh, Frances, how we love you. Actually, we never knew you, because you are Georganne Bryant's late grandmother and the namesake of her north-central Phoenix boutique, which in just three years has become a retail mainstay in that neck of the woods. 2007 | BEST PLACE TO BUY YOUR BEST GIRLFRIEND A BIRTHDAY GIFT

So your BFF's the big 4-0 Get over to Frances, ASAP. We've said it before and we'll say it again -- this is the shop we'd open if we could open a shop, only the owner has way better taste. So we're content to browse the super-cute tables, packed with body products, garden supplies, jewelry, and a mix of new and vintage clothes. 2006 | BEST NEW BOUTIQUE

We thought we had original taste, until we walked into Frances. Then the mixed emotions started. On one hand, we were delighted to see vintage cowboy boots alongside oilcloth, rhinestoned belt buckles next to the cutest lines of greeting cards we'd seen in a long time. We've given owner Georganne Bryant a nod in our Sideshow profiles but really, an issue of Best of Phoenix just wouldn't be complete without an award for Best Boutique, and we've gotta hand it to Frances. From carefully chosen vintage clothing (we even noticed the Goldwater's Department Store tag still affixed to one item, and a picture of the original owner on another!), thick Mexican leather purses and belts to pendants and rings so whimsical they'll take your breath away, this space rivals any specialty boutique we've been in, anywhere. Toss in housewares, stationery, baby gifts, and new clothing (mostly women's but with a few men's T's thrown in for good measure). The signature touches on everything from the Web site to the wall displays just ooze style � and put our fair city on the shopping map, for sure.

This little boutique is on probably one of the best corners in all of CenPho. Great jewelry options - many of it handmade. If you love Free People, they have a great selection of their pieces, usually leaning to the more vintage-y looking stuff. You can also pick up a pair of Tom's shoes here (who donates a pair to a child in need with every pair bought!) or find a cool, unique gift. I found the cutest socks that look like Converse sneakers - complete with a shoelace bow - for a friend's baby shower not too long ago.
