Description

Aside from being among the country's best-regarded venues, the Fox continues to offer one of the Front Range's best concert experiences. Unrestricted sight lines and flawless sound abound, and the calendar is consistently excellent and diverse, with the best and brightest locals, indie hip-hop and rock, mainstream acts on the verge, and everything in between, as well as a stellar lineup of national acts. Factor in a friendly bar staff and reasonable drink prices, and you have a room that is simply the most intimate and enthralling place to see a show.

  • 2008 | Best Reason to Go to Boulder for a Show -- Still

It may seem redundant to continue heaping praise on the Fox Theatre year after year. After all, the venue hasn't undergone any major renovations in recent memory. But it doesn't need to, because the Fox is still the best place along the Front Range to see a show. The sound is flawless, the sightlines unobstructed, and the talent is as compelling, relevant and diverse as ever. Nothing's changed at the Fox -- and that's a good thing. More »

  • 2006 | BEST LARGE VENUE

There's a reason the Fray chose to film parts of its first video at Boulder's Fox Theatre. Aside from being among the country's best-regarded venues, the Fox continues to offer the Front Range's pinnacle concert experience. Unrestricted sight lines and flawless sound abound, and the calendar is consistently excellent and diverse, with the best and brightest locals, indie hip-hop and rock, mainstream acts on the verge, and everything in between. Sure, it's pain a for Denver dwellers to drive to Boulder to see a show. But the Fox Theatre makes it impossible not to. The Fox has always boasted the state's most breathtaking sound; now it's bringing some of the greatest bands in the country... More »

  • 2004 | Best Place to See Emerging Hip-Hop Talent -- Boulder

Boulder's Fox Theatre is a required destination for the nation's hottest up-and-coming hip-hop acts, from Dilated Peoples and Jurassic 5 to People Under the Stairs and the Pharcyde. The theater consistently has its ear to the street, with an aggressive booking policy that takes chances on up-and-comers and gives locals a chance to shine. The club's unobstructed sight lines and crystal-clear sound make the trip to the People's Republic more than worth the drive. Many Mootown denizens consider... More »

  • 2002 | Best Midsize Venue in Boulder

Earlier this year, the Fox Theatre notched its tenth anniversary -- but it also celebrated its tenth year as the best-sounding room of its type in the area. Since its 1992 birth on the Hill in Boulder, the space has become a favorite of both artists and fans. Simply put, the Fox provides the finest acoustics imaginable, whether the star attraction is a singer-songwriter playing unplugged or a twelve-piece funk band dedicated to blowing the roof off the sucker. • 2001 | Best Hip-Hop Joint

For a theater stuck in the middle of a college town that's about as white as the inside of a hospital toilet bowl, the Fox Theatre sure knows how to kick some flava: More than any other venue in the state, it consistently hosts fine performances by up-and-coming hip-hop talent along with its indie-rock and pop artists. The Fox's rap-centric calendar is made all the more appealing by a crystal-clear sound system and well-designed floor plan: You can actually see -- and understand -- the... More »

  • 2000 | Best sound in a theater

Every night, soundman David Burbank tweaks and twiddles his gear to craft the clearest live mix in town. While many area rooms frequently wear out attendees with excessive volume, out-of-balance blends and distortion, the club serves up a loud-but-lovely mix that's powerful and fox-smart. More »
