British flags wave proudly above Dixie Highway in the Oakland Park neighborhood marking the home of Fox and Hounds British American Pub. Beyond the Old English font and heavy wooden door is a low lit pub adorned with stuffed foxes, sports memorabilia, and a bit of British charm. In one room is a pool table, numerous dart boards, and a jukebox, all the necessary tools for a friendly night out. Rugby fans and (British) football enthusiasts will be delighted to find multiple big-screen TVs hanging in various corners of the pub showing weekly matches. Fox and Hounds British American Pub provides visitors with a smashing good time, plenty of beer and liquor options, as well as a welcoming smile behind the bar. But a little word of advice: think twice before belting out a Chelsea FC chant during an Arsenal match.
Nonsmokers don't get it. They believe, in their lung of lungs, that with enough advertising campaigns and public education seminars, smokers will see the light, become converted, and quit. After all, their eyes stare at you -- one pair from the fox on the bar and the other from the fox high up in a picture box on the wall. You suspect they... More »
Robbie is like a dad. He has a round, friendly face, a warm, infectious laugh, and a firm handshake. He also loves Tom Jones and pours the most perfect glass of Stella. So, he's really like a dad who gets up on the bar to dance to Tom Jones and likes gettin' sauced with his kids. A decidedly younger crowd has infiltrated this British pub in the last year, namely the rock 'n' roll DJ collective known as Blowtorch, which turned the Fox into a monthly house party of sorts. But Robbie, who is a... More »
The reputation of a British pub may conjure visions of drunken bar fights, drunken sing-alongs, and drunken, well, anything. And if you've ever visited a British pub that's caught World Cup fever, you have a right to fear for your life. But the Fox and Hound understands the pensive drinker's needs. The Fox, as it is known among its patrons, offers cozy ambiance, low lighting, and friendly service among a plethora of stuffed foxes and hunting trophies. Kinda like you're hanging out in your...
