Description

This Taiwanese breakfast bakery feels like it was lifted straight out of Taipei. It’s one of the few places in Los Angeles where you can get a diverse selection of morning delights, such as freshly brewed soy milk with a crispy twisted cruller wrapped with shredded pork and a generous layer of rice. They also make a mean gua bao, or a fatty pork sandwich studded with peanuts, a tangy hoisin sauce and cilantro. For the average Angeleno, the pairings may sound unconventional – but it just boils down to a lot of egg and dough. There are two locations, one in San Gabriel and another in Hacienda Heights. Though both places are spectacular, the Hacienda Heights location is superior in terms of food quality. And unlike other brunch locations in Los Angeles, Four Sea is cheap: You can get more than your fair share for $10 per person.

They have one of the largest selections of Taiwanese breakfast items in Los Angeles, and the staff is uniformed and polite. Maybe the English-speaking abilities of some of the servers are lacking, but the efficient ordering... More »
