Need a break from life in the big city? You’ve come to the right place: Fossil Creek Creamery. This working ranch is in quiet Strawberry, Arizona, located two short hours from Phoenix. The creamery makes and sells artisanal goat’s milk cheeses and fudge, but the ranch is also home to a pack of llamas. Plan a half-dike hike through the wooded mountains with llamas in tow to carry your packs and equipment. A healthy lunch is provided during the trek. Visitors can also opt to stay overnight in the ranch’s yurt; just remember to bring a sleeping bag. While you’re at Fossil Creek, pick up a stash of tasty products to savor at home or give as gifts. The ranch store stocks goat milk fudge in flavors like chocolate and peanut butter, ten types of chevre including lavender pepper and strawberry jalapeno, and goat milk soaps and creams made with coconut, jojoba, and sweet almond oil for those who aren’t a fan of the unique dairy taste.
