It might seem counterintuitive to spend time enjoying the outdoors when temperatures are dropping. However, a little snow and freezing windchill never stopped Minnesotans from heading out into nature. This Saturday, experts will be on hand at... More »
Spend a day at Fort Snelling State Park -- an entire day, from morning till evening -- and chances are you'll exhaust yourself before you exhaust all the possibilities of things to do there. For the sheer variety of activities, its profound natural beauty, its historic significance, and all the educational extras of a state park, it's hard to find an equal to Fort Snelling. Bring a bike and explore the park, or pedal a few short miles along the exquisite trail to Minnehaha Falls... More »
The Mdewakanton Dakota once considered the confluence of the Mississippi and Minnesota rivers to be the sacred center of the world. When the snow falls, the park maintains eight miles of groomed... More »

Granted, no single person is likely to enjoy all those activities. And, to be truthful, the breadth of recreation on offer may be less appealing than the geography of the place itself. Straddling the meeting of... More »
During the summer months, the stone wall running along the bluffs above Minnehaha Falls can get so crowded with kids trying to see over the three-foot-high edge you'd think some real-live Pokémon was down there. So cross the bridge and veer right a bit. From there you'll be able to see the falls up close. The park has been recently refurbished, which means plenty of benches and barbecue grills, spaced far enough apart that you don't have to picnic with the next family over. (Those... More »
