Taking inspiration from East Texas fish shacks with the design to match, the grub here is exactly as the restaurant's name and marquee suggests -- catching air from the kitchen to your table. Its upwardly mobile location (Preston Center) stands in direct contrast to its nautically themed décor. The fresh, seasonal catch is a must: catfish, shrimp and oysters, grilled fish, shrimp cocktail, fish cocktail, crab legs and mudbugs. The staff offers daily specials, such as grilled salmon, trout or tilapia. Flying Fish also prides itself on its communal atmosphere, much like its sibling establishments, Flying Saucer and Meddlesome Moth. Put up a photo of yourself with a catch and falsely brag about its size. No one will call you out.
