There’s a certain thrill with finding a hidden treasure – but when driving to Flip-Flops, be warned: Your GPS might point your car straight into the water. (You may be better off going by water taxi.) Tucked underneath the bridge at Oakland Park Boulevard and A1A, Flip-Flops Dockside Eatery offers great water views and a fresh breeze from the Intracoastal. The menu is pretty standard for a casual waterside joint: appetizers like wings, calamari and conch fritters; entrées like pasta, ribs, and seafood combos. Some notable dishes include baby-back ribs that fall off the bone; Iyaca, a Venezuelan tamale filled with stew, raisins, and olives; and house-made sweet burritos (cheesecake wrapped in pastry dough, fried and dusted with brown sugar) for dessert.
