Flip Burger Bar brings to North Miami something much needed around those parts: a casual, unpretentious hangout with good burgers and an ample selection of beers. The French-owned restaurant is located in a nondescript building along the highly trafficked 123rd Street near Biscayne Boulevard. The space seats 30 and sports five flat-screen TV sets and a beer fridge behind a natural wood bar, the main accent in an otherwise simple room. The menu includes wings, salads, and hot dogs, but burgers are the thing here. The Signature ($9), topped with Gruyère, mushrooms, and onion marmalade, is a good bet, as is the Works ($8.50), which comes with American cheese, bacon, mushrooms, and sautéed onions. For a place this small, a selection of about 50 beers from around the world is impressive. And what"s best is that the prices won"t break the bank. No burger - or dish for that matter - costs more than $10. Stop by for lunch and order a Classic (a plain burger) with hand-cut fries and a drink, and pay only $8. Add a beer for only $2 more. And during happy hour, weekdays 4 to 7 p.m., get two brews for the price of one. Save the extra cash for the jukebox.
