Relentlessly creeping northward from its home in Washington, D.C., this hamburger chain has finally assaulted New York. Fifty-pound bags of Idaho potatoes line the painfully red walls, cluing you in to the best thing in the place: well-browned, well-salted fries, with a lingering hint of oregano in the starch coating. The burger patties (two per regular burger) are cooked into oblivion, but the toppings are so good and so profuse, you won't care that the patty is as dry as the Bonneville Salt Flats. Go for the sautéed mushrooms or the jalapeño peppers. Ironically, our favorite offering was the grilled kosher frank with cheese and bacon. Gee, is it still kosher?
