I was going to make this place my new local fish store even though its 140 mile round trip . I COULD go to any of 10 petco/smart some really nice but this fish gallery had some of the neatest hard to find africans in all sizes and species ,color, size and were great help. Then i guess about the time it burned and almost died. I to almost died as well so now that both of us are on the mend I have friends make trips for me now and then and I hope to get back soon, I am told its better than ever.So says the word of the mockingbird
We took it pretty hard when Fish Gallery was devastated by a fire last year; as renovations dragged on and on, we feared they might remain closed forever. But when after several months they reopened the fish showroom, we were glad they had put in the extra time and effort. The new space is attractive, and they even added a restroom. Sure, they're not the cheapest joint in town, but you'll never get the same service and knowledgeable staff at a big-box store. Their aquatic plant selection is excellent, and African cichlid-keepers already know that Fish Gallery is the place to go. If you're just getting started, it's OK to go to Petsmart. We bet Fish Gallery will still be around when you're ready to swim with the big boys.

Sure, PetSmart and Petco have goldfish. They have African cichlids. They might even have an oddball or two--a dojo loach or a black ghost knife. But once you step into the Fish Gallery, you won't think of buying fish anywhere else again. The store (recently expanded) is filled with tanks of amazing freshwater fish that you'll never see at a pet emporium--Senegal bichirs, roseline sharks, baseball-sized orandas and the hard-to-find Siamese algae eater. Their cichlid selection is likewise... More »
We love cichlids, those hearty freshwater fish from Africa, Central and South America and India with perch-like bodies and colors that could put Las Vegas eye shadow to shame. And people are passionate about these things. Some claim they can train them to do aquarium loops. Others say they can urge them to leap from the aquarium surface, triple Lutz and then dive down to the gravel and spit a few grains into Egyptian hieroglyphics (the Central American ones do Mayan inscriptions, while the...
