FEZ bills itself as "American fare with Moroccan flair." The reality is more like American fare with some Moroccan names sprinkled throughout the menu. Nevertheless, FEZ is a stylish place in an area south of Camelback Road in need of stylish places. The food is a mixed bag of salads, pizzas (called kisras on the menu), burgers and fries. Steer clear of the couscous and kibis, which will make you long for a one-way ticket to Tangier. The kisras, salads and lettuce wraps are not bad, though.
We love dining out at local restaurants. Not only do we get to nosh on good eats, we also leave with a nice case of the warm fuzzies for giving our hard-earned dollars to a local business owners. See... More »
After all the goodness Saturday's Devoured offered, we sent two more of Chow Bella's finest out to tag-team the more than 40 vendors at the event on Sunday. Heather Hoch and Minerva Orduna roamed the ... More »

Veggie burgers have come a long way since yesteryear's pre-processed, cardboard-flavor hockey pucks. Nowadays, they are made-in-house masterpieces full of whole grains, spices, and tasty stuff like bl... More »
It wasn't until a few years ago that getting late-night eats in the Valley meant hitting up a 24-hour chain restaurant (Oh, boy, another Belgian Waffle Slam) or picking through the contents of your re... More »
Nobody really likes vermouth. It's just a necessary evil that allows you to justify drinking a double shot of gin in martini form. FEZ understands this and offers the "Straight Up" martini -- so strong that it will curl your toes. But what this chic eatery is really known for is ignoring the classic martini rules in favor of fruity and fanciful (but by no means less potent) fusions. Take the Feztini, for example, with raspberry vodka, Chambord, a champagne float, and a sugary rim that... More »
Happy hour is happy hour is happy hour, right? At Fez, it's a celebration that takes place seven days a week, 4 to 6:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. to midnight. Its principal features are pretty standard: two-for-one well, draft, and bottled beer and signature margaritas, $3 house wine, and $6 small plates. Not so ordinary are Fez's insanely tasty daily food specials, served at the bar and yanked right from the daily menu, so we can have all our favorites for less than half-price as we savor our... We won't lie -- we're huge fans of the half-pound Angus burgers at Fez. They routinely satisfy our carnivorous urges. But sometimes a veggie burger is just what we crave and, sadly, even some of the best burger joints in town can't deliver a truly delicious, meatless patty. At most places, veggie burgers are a lame token dish. What makes Fez's veggie burger so special happens to be the same thing that makes all of the food here so craveable: It's distinctive. This vegetarian-friendly... More »
We'd like this swank downtown nightspot even without the pomegranate martinis -- after all, just being able to write "swank downtown nightspot" is something wonderful in Phoenix. But it's this drink in particular that takes our feelings from "like" to pure rapture. Yeah, pomegranate is everywhere this year, but nowhere in town is it so perfectly tart/sweet as in the martini glasses at FEZ. We were so inspired by this drink that we bought our own bottle of POM and attempted it at home... More »
I like Fez more for the atmosphere and cocktails than for the food. It's trendy to the max, has a huge gay following and usually has interesting music playing. The decor is very modern, and it has a very New York feel for it. Food-wise, the strawberry salad is great, and I also love the hummus.
This place has great, modern art kind of atmosphere; a great starting point before crossing the street to party it up at Amsterdam. Outrageous sweet potato fries
You have to try the Balsamic blue cheese burger, it's out of this world!
