Description

The fourth project from restaurateur Craig DeMarco and his Upward Projects team (Postino, Windsor, and Churn), this intimate yet lively pizza parlor, housed in a restored 1950s bank in north Central Phoenix, features a thoughtful food and drink menu with dishes ranging from the dependable, to the very good, to the sublime. Satisfying pizzas, designed by master bread maker MJ Coe, feature a slightly crispy and chewy crust with a thick, puffy edge and a harmonious flavor balance of toppings. But don’t stop at the pies. Federal also serves up lively salads, luscious pasta, and killer sandwiches incorporating ingredients like house-made mozzarella, locally procured sausage, and a farmers market’s bounty of vegetables.

Upward Projects has done it again with another great restaurant. I love the fact that they've taken over this entire area with Federal Pizza, Windsor, and Postino.

The atmosphere and decor in this place were awesome and definitely fit my style. My girlfriend and I received great service. I'm pretty sure 3 or 4 different servers stopped by our booth throughout our meal.

The pizza was really good but not on the level of Cibo or Pizzeria Bianco in my opinion. The beer selection was also solid and obviously I made sure to take home one of their sweet growlers.

Here are three reasons I liked Federal Pizza:
    1) The atmosphere is awesome. I loved all the awesome mid-century lamps and decorations. The booths were even tufted.
    2) The pizza. Yup, it was yummy. The crust was that perfect mix of airy-yet-solid crispiness.
    3) The growlers. You can get a growler of beer to go for a really decent price, and their logo looks pretty cool too.
My first time there was a Sunday evening for dinner, but next time I'm coming for happy hour and sitting on the patio!
