The new Fatty Crab occupies a double storefront, and is marginally more comfortable than the original. The main advantage over its forerunner lies in a larger bar with many more alcohol options, and a menu that, while preserving the original bill of fare, adds daily specials which are of particular interest to Fatty Crab devotees. Among them is a wonderful hot dog that begins with a homemade XO sausage, then piles on pickled chiles and other pickled veggies. Baby lamb makes an appearance in a red curry sauce, while there"s also a nifty new southeast Asian dip composed of mushed-up pork skin and mackerel called nam prik, which comes with a wealth of poached vegetables for dipping.

Sure, the Korean hot dogs at NY Hot Dog & Coffee are fab, heaped with kimchee, bulgogi, or both. And we certainly appreciate the mild burn (but we're saving that for the smackdown).
