What a terrific concept -- a full dinner (with drinks) served during a movie. This 1940s Art Deco movie-palace-style theater parks patrons in cushy velvet armchairs, and wines and dines them while playing second-run, classic and independent films. While gourmet entrees like salmon and artichoke chicken are available, appetizers and sandwiches shine. Baked Brie à l'orange and grilled portabella with sausage are sublime. Prices are a bargain, much better than $5 stale popcorn and $3.75 soda at your local theater.
Start in the cozy-chic lounge, where specialty martinis are named after movie stars. As you sip and unwind by firelight, you'll honestly forget you're in a strip mall. (Think about the cost for two: $15 for tickets, $7.50 for watered-down soft drinks, $8 for sacks of stale popcorn, or $7 for boxes of Goobers, and another $40, easy, for steaks afterward.) At Farrelli's, we can scope out a potential paramour and enjoy a fine meal and a movie for only $43 (Here's the math: tickets, $12; sodas with free refills, $3; juicy Angus cheeseburgers on sourdough rolls with piles of fries, $18; and for... Now this is the way to do dinner and a movie. No standing in line. No $7.50 ticket. No $3.75 soft drink. No $5 sack of stale popcorn. No $20 for steak after the show. And no struggling to carve out four or more hours to fit it all in. Not when... More »
