Description

Now in bigger, fancier digs, FareStart in Belltown serves tasty lunches cooked by rigorously trained homeless or formerly homeless chefs. The lunch menu has the basics—turkey sandwiches, burgers, and fish and chips—but also ranges upscale with entrees like seared scallops over beluga lentils. Its pork-shoulder sandwich with beer-battered onion rings and chipotle aioli is a sight to behold. Each Thursday night, a visiting chef prepares a special three-course menu for only $29.95. Some dinners sell out weeks in advance, so check the organization's Web site (www.farestart.org) for the guest chef schedule and reserve your table early.
