If you can forgive them for catering the Republican National Convention, Fairway is probably the best one-stop shopping for those of us who really care about dinner. Since 1950, the original location has evolved from a fruit and vegetable store to two large, densely stocked markets with huge produce sections, meat, fish, prepared food, the very famous cheese department, and baked goods. In all this growth, they have managed to maintain an extremely helpful and efficient staff, though you may have to wait your turn.
