Poised above the point on Atlantic Avenue where the LIRR zooms out of the ground and soars into the sky, this new spot boasts both Bajan (Barbadian) and Guyanese cooks, making for a pleasing menu of inter-island food. Of course, the goat curry is above reproach, a pleasing chocolate brown color and deeply flavored, tendered with a choice of white rice or rice 'n peas. Also beguiling are the tapered salt-cod fritters called "fish cakes," and - the Bajan favorite - "cook-up," a sort of Creole dirty rice incorporating diverse meats and vegetables. The semi-subterranean dining room is collegial, and the gentlemen who congregate there watching CNN will offer you a warm welcome.
