eXcuses Art Bar & Cafe is a 6,700-square-foot spot in Deep Ellum that hosts an eclectic variety of events. So much so that on any given night passersby may see anything from carloads of sorority girls in fancy dresses to a handful of folks decked out in leather and lace for goth parties (on Friday evenings after 9, eXcuses hosts the long-running weekly Lord Byron's Panoptikon, a gothic dance night). Opening in 2006 in the old Club One location, the spacious family-owned-and-operated club features a full restaurant and bar, serving up a variety of pizza and sandwiches, as well as a few other items like the apple quesadilla starter (diced Granny Smith apples with cinnamon sugar and a four-cheese blend wrapped in a cinnamon tortilla and served with berry cream). The restaurant has plenty of free parking, a maple dance floor, big screen TVs, some pinball and video games and a swanky mezzanine hangout area. The art bar includes the Leroy Roper Gallery, featuring Roper and other Deep Ellum artists.
This place is awesome!! The music, the food, and the clientele. All great. Resident Djs are Lord Byron, Son of Sam and Devil 1. Fridays doors open at 9pm
