Description

There's a good reason Nepali food isn't as profoundly spiced as Indian food: If you had to walk down a mountainside to pick up your nutmeg, and then carry it back up again, you'd be pretty sparing too. Everest on Grand is one of America's only Nepali restaurants. If you're not familiar with the cuisine, it's basically a little like Indian, a little like southern Chinese, and a little like Russian. Order the restaurant's signature dish, fat little steamed dumplings called momos, for further instruction. Add saag, which are gingery greens; curried eggplant and potatoes; roti; and basmati rice, and now you're eating Nepali. Feel free to look up at the posters of Mount Everest and wonder if anyone in Nepal is eating Minnesotan.
