Joyce Brown of the Downtown Cultural Alliance in Lake Worth affectionately likens the city's eclectic, "noncommercial" arts district to a "little Greenwich Village." That comment will inevitably trigger a knee-jerk scoff from some New Yorkers, but you can test the comparison personally during "Evenings on the Avenue" this Friday in downtown Lake Worth. A variety of bands and solo musicians will perform throughout the streets and in local restaurants, while art galleries open their doors for special exhibitions and other creative endeavors.
"Evenings on the Avenue" is 6 to 9 p.m. the first and third Friday of every month. Activities take place on Lucerne and Lake avenues in downtown, with many centered around the Cultural Plaza at Lake Avenue and M Street. There is no cost for the all-ages events.
