Description

If they quell an urge to overgrill and oversalt, this handsome cafe could become an upscale Mexican staple. Appealing sopes (pizza-style wheels of cornmeal), mashed-on-the-spot guacamole, substantial quesos and rosemary-scented roast chicken are winners; oversizzled grills are not. A brooding mural, cosmetic waiters and spiffy crowd add visual interest.

    Five locations in Houston, but I like this Highland Village spot. Huge bar area where you can eat, drink and watch games. It has indoor and outdoor areas. White cheese queso is really good but just different. Guacamole is outstanding. Enchiladas are really good. Tamales come with corn and beans. It’s hard to make good tamales and theirs is the best.
