Stop by the Encounter Restaurant and you'll be reminded of just how lovely and unique L.A. is - purple cascading lights and Jetsons-like "retro-futuristic chic" evoke television landscapes (the restaurant was designed by Disney). But the mod interior is just a complement to a SoCal/Pacific rim menu that includes caramelized salmon with vanilla-honey sweet potatoes ($25), and Chilean sea bass with mango salsa ($26). Don't miss out on the Odyssey dessert ($24), a sampler of tiramisAA1, cheesecake, lemon crAA"me brAA>>lAA(c)e, vanilla ice cream and Mocha-java Stratosphere - a hazelnut flourless cake.     It's underrated but inconvenient to get to unless you're stuck at LAX Airport. It's a great spot if you’re flying in or out. It's undergoing repairs right now. It's the big, freestanding, spider-looking building in the middle of the airport. It’s very George Jetson-y. They play space age bossa nova type music. It’s fine dining, so it's pricey, but it’s a cool spot.
