Description

Although the second Elway's lacks the fun factor of the original in Cherry Creek, it's still a good bet for a business dinner -- especially if your group is large enough to fill the League of Evil-like private seating area. But despite its hoity-toity location (it's in the Ritz-Carlton), this Elway's also works for a casual, after-work meet, particularly if you grab one of the comfy booths and start ordering drinks and app after app (and maybe a burger or two) off the extensive menu.

  • 2011 | Best Chili

Considering the absurdly high number of chili cookoffs that take place in Denver, it doesn't make sense that it's next to impossible to find a butt-kicking bowl of the stuff at a restaurant. What's even more wacky is that the one chili that does bowl us over comes from the kitchen of Elway's Cherry Creek, a white-tablecloth steer palace that slings a $48 porterhouse, Japanese sea bass for $39, and a half-dozen oysters for just under twenty bucks. And yet for less than a tenner, you can swell... More »

  • 2011 | Best Sushi in a Non-Sushi Restaurant

The staff at Elway's Downtown clearly saw what a bloody steak could do for a carnivore's libido, so last spring, they unshucked a sushi bar: proof that the junction of toro and tenderloin is just as natural as that of beer and pretzels. The display -- exquisitely fresh, glistening fish that glows like silk -- rivals the quality of what you'll encounter at restaurants where sushi headlines the menu. You can order sushi from the dining room, or just kick back at the bar with some... More »

  • 2008 | Best Place to Score an Elway Bobblehead

The new Elway's at the Ritz-Carlton is such a great people-watching spot that your neck will hurt after a few drinks at the bar, but that's far from the only head-bobbling going on. The steakhouse also has "a roomful" of real bobbleheads featuring its namesake, retired Bronco legend John Elway, and they're free for the asking to anyone who wants one. They read "Class of 2004" and look nice on a souvenir shelf. Make ours a 7 and 7, and keep 'em coming. More »

We go here quite a bit. They have a good wine list, great steaks and, of course, great service.

I think the bone-in NY strip was the best I ever had.
