While people everywhere try to figure out how to run the fastest or eat the most, we're trying to figure if we could take the GWR for the most slowly chewed bite or painstakingly styled hairdo. If tho... More »
A week ago today, Oliver Peck and the gang at Elm St. Tattoo were all in the middle of this year's Friday the 13th tattoo marathon. Surely by now, Oliver and friends are fully recovered from their 24... More »

With doom on the horizon, there are a few things that most any red-blooded American will want to do before curtain call (if they haven't already). One of those "always wanted to" list items floating in people's buckets is to get a tat, dammit. Most seasoned doomsayers probably already have some permanent markings upon their flesh, but for those who haven't made the commitment yet (it's never too late for your first ink), high-tail it down to Deep Ellum and allow one of the many tale... Oliver Peck, the man behind this Deep Ellum tattoo shop, does a lot for this city--far more than he probably gets credit for. The guy throws some of the best parties around, gladly dresses up in drag to perform in some of the city's best tribute bands and earlier this year, he helped California's MusInk Festival, which combines a rock 'n' roll festival with a tattoo convention into one awesome blowout, expand to Fair Park. But the man who kicked Kat Von D to the curb also does something... More »

So, you've finally given in. Maybe the peer pressure finally got to you. Or maybe you've resolved your issues with Mother and are looking to devote a patch of skin to honor her (or maybe you have really big mommy issues, so you're ready to have a death's head inked into your flesh). Now comes the hard part: finding an artist who can best translate your complicated emotional state into a long-lasting statement. Oliver Peck and his fellow inkers at Deep Ellum's Elm Street Tattoo are guaranteed... More »
Tattoo artist Oliver Peck of Elm Street deserves a big hand--and a bare arm and maybe most of a back--for earning a Guinness World Record for 24 consecutive hours of tattooing earlier this year. Not only does the guy inspire, create art and make bodies his canvas with his artistry, he does so with humor and perseverance. But Peck doesn't do it alone. Fellow Elm Street tattoo artists Dean Williams and Mark Galvan work alongside Peck, and the team, on the whole, is a bang-up crew... More »
Over the years, Elm Street Tattoo has earned random bits of publicity--on TV, blogs and in rags like this one. But it's not that they needed any, really. Good word of mouth is the biggest prop anyone can give a tattoo shop, and they get plenty from thousands of blissfully inked customers. The shop is home to celebrated Big D tat gun-slinger Oliver Peck (winner of the 2001 Guinness World Record Challenge for most tattoos in 24 hours, mind you), along with skin-prickers Dean Williams,... Tattoo artist Oliver Peck of Elm Street deserves a big hand—and a bare arm and maybe most of a back—for earning a Guinness World Record for 24 consecutive hours of tattooing earlier this year. Not only does the guy inspire, create art and make bodies his canvas with his artistry, he does so with humor and perseverance. But Peck doesn't do it alone. Fellow Elm Street tattoo artists Dean Williams and Mark Galvan work alongside Peck, and the team, on the whole, is a bang-up crew with diverse specialties. From sailor styles to scary skulls, Elm Street Tattoo is ready to draw indelible designs. With Deep Ellum in transition (again), the buzz of Elm Street's tattoo guns are still a reliable way to make one's mark on personal expression.
The best place in Dallas to get a tattoo. Try to see Dean or Oliver :) Other than that, the guys who work there are really nice and fun. The shop is really laid back, and there is always something going on!
