Description

When ancient St. Louis travelers of some hundred years ago headed west, there were few MoDOT signs to guide them along the way. Enter the mile houses, buildings roughly so many miles from the Old Courthouse. At Manchester Road and Woodlawn Avenue in Kirkwood, travelers will find themselves roughly eleven miles, as the horse trots, from downtown. They will also find a spacious dining room with retro décor and a large menu filled with hearty fare, including several different steak, chicken, fish and pasta options. The menu at Eleven Mile House also includes a sundry list of burgers and sandwiches, including the Kirkwood burger, covered in cheesy rarebit and bacon, and the Eleven Mile House sandwich, a croissant filled with smoked turkey, roast beef, bacon, Provel, lettuce and tomato. Add a good beer selection and live music on Saturday nights, and it's easy to see why 11 Mile House has stood the test of time.
