This gorgeous and popular Lafayette Square restaurant is the perfect spot for dinner party sure to please everyone -- or a intimate dinner date for two. The restaurant bills itself as a "Wine Country Bistro," and the menu features variations on casual Northern Italian and California fare. Wild boar is a house specialty, served in house-made ravioli as a starter and tossed with pappardelle for an entrée. The usual suspects are available -- steaks, lamb and honey-roasted duck breast in a tasty bourbon veal jus -- as well as uncommon dishes such as braised rabbit. The wine list is very strong.

We don't have to tell you how important a first date is. But we will anyway: The night sets the tone for the second, third and fourth outings (if things go well), and if things go really well, this date could be something you both talk about for the rest of your lives. You need to make it unforgettable. And classy. And fun. Good thing you're acquainted with the gem that is the Lafayette Square neighborhood; good thing you've made reservations at Eleven Eleven Mississippi. This self-described... More »
It was New Year's Eve 2003. Four friends with no plans for ringing in 04, other than to do it together, to do it casual, but to do it right. One pipes up about this new place, Eleven Eleven Mississippi, in Lafayette Square. She manages to snag a late reservation. The foursome converges upon Eleven Eleven with good cheer and high hopes. These hopes are exceeded, thanks not only to innovatively executed cuisine, but also to service that's swift, suave and smooth. A small, smartly attired fleet... More »
Wine, we are always told, should pair well with our meal. It should complement our food, tease out the flavors, make our free-range chicken/New York strip/seared bay scallops feel good about themselves. At Eleven Eleven Mississippi, the equation is turned on its head. The wine selection at this gorgeous Lafayette Square restaurant is so well-cultivated, so consistently excellent, that the list leads to both rapture and hand-wringing: "A glass of bold, blackberry-tinged 2002 Vinum cabernet...
