Description

If this quirky restaurant were a movie, it'd be called a cult classic. First you have to find it (tucked into a condo complex, with no sign). Next, you have to get a table (no reservations are taken). Then you must submit-completely-to the will of the owners. Now, if you're not afraid to drink whatever Phred pours in your wine glass (he won't tell you what it is until you taste), you'll find that it matches, with exquisite precision, whatever Laurie cooks. Meals here last hours, often because no one wants to leave. Last tip: Bring along a designated driver or plug a taxi company's number into your cell phone, because Phred pours an awful lot of wine.

There's food too, but--as the complimentary glass of bubbly that greets every patron makes clear--wine-drinking is the activity worth pursuing here. HANNA RASKIN 3... More »
