Description

The trompo, a vertical roasting spit common in Mexico, serves up the popular Alambres Al Pastor-a quartet of tacos served with the traditional toppings in corn tortillas. Although there are more than tacos at Leo Spencer's El Tizoncito, don't expect chips and salsas. And do expect frijoles charros-black bean soup seasoned with epazote herb. Other crowd favorites are tortas and quesadillas. It's difficult to go wrong with any of the drink options, like the $5 tamarind margarita, agua fresca or horchata in the warm glow of the food and earthy color scheme.

I was very impressed with the food and service at "El Tizoncito Taqueria" at 3318 Forest Lane. The food quality is exceptional and pricing is fair. Atmosphere is very pleasant and service is top notch. I was so impressed with how friendly and attentive they are. I would certainly recommend the Torta Cubana, Tortilla Soup and the guacamole is outstanding. This is a hidden gem and I look forward to my next meal.
