Anchoring a Richmond strip center between Fondren and Gessner, El Rey's blinking neon-green sign beckons drinkers Tuesday through Saturday. This sports bar feels a bit more spacious than most others, likely due to the large dance floor and raised stage. The booze selection is limited to beer and wine, but there are plenty of wells full of ice-cold brews behind the large bar top. Three pool tables sit in the back corner of the big U-shaped room, but the real entertainment is the music - El Rey features a bevy of Latin sounds from salsa and cumbia to one of Houston's myriad rock en español bands.
