El Papaturro is home to Salvadoran comfort food and other Central American dishes. Extremely casual, you'll find their main draw is the pupusa, a Salvadoran dish made with thick, corn tortillas filled with all types of meats, cheeses and vegetables. There are a few other locations around town, but they all offer salsas to top those thick, warm disks of masa stuffed with melted cheese as well as a lightly fermented cabbage salad called curtido. If you're not familiar with this type of cuisine and don't speak Spanish, you might want to bring along a friend who does. It may increase your chances of understanding what it is that you just ordered.
