El Mestizo offers a nice mix of the high-end and the low on its mixed-up menu of seriously authentic Mexican eats. From jumped-up bar grub to classic resort kitchen preparations and abuelita classics, this single small room on Broadway does everything remarkably well, but hits a particular brand of excellence when translating the greatest hits of Mexico City diner food for an audience a couple thousand miles removed.
