El Farolito's original location is found in Historic Placentia's Santa Fe district. Its old building with low-slung ceilings feels a lot more like Mexico than it's gabacho counterparts. Yet the plates themselves seem irregular and oversized. Order the chicken quesadilla and what emerges from the kitchen is something the size of a small hubcap, topped with guacamole and refried beans. Definitely ask for the sour cream. It has a tart, cream-cheese-like consistency designed to cool the palate after all the salsa and exotic cinnamon coffee they serve. The good thing about El Farolito is their big menu and that fact that it seems like they've been around forever. You can get Mexican breakfast dishes and a wide selection of combo plates. They also cater if you want even more of their oversized plates, or head over for a deal on Taco Tuesdays. Their newer location in Downtown Fullerton has Thirsty Thursdays to contribute to a week night, bar crawl list.

Great Mexican food. I went to school in Placentia and this is a well-known place for really good authentic Mexican food for pretty cheap. The owners are also very involved in the community, on at least three occasions I know of they donated food for charity events and fundraisers.
