A magnet for bikers, barflies, and the blue-collar brigade, this rough-around-the-edges roadhouse in south Scottsdale features a nightly cast of characters that are just as colorful as the neon beer signs on its walls. From slick-looking billiards sharks engaging in nine-ball on the tables to the hippies and housewives playing board games around the horseshoe-shaped bar, the El Dorado is always bustling with activity. Its live entertainment schedule is just as energetic, with karaoke taking place five times a week and a popular blues jam on Wednesdays. Patrons also pack the place for ladies night on Tuesday, which offers 50-cent beers, free pool, and just as many guys in attendance as girls.
This is a great jam, I've watched it grow over the last year or two and it's getting bigger and bigger (larger), anyway it is getting to be quite a community meeting, friends finding friends, making friends. Great place for anyone looking to find possible band mates.
This is one of the jams where everyone get's to play, not much time is wassted getting the new folks up, everything moves fast, the Bartenders are the best, the food is the best. You get taken care of pretty good here. Get there early and you have a LARGE crowd watching and listening, get there late and it's cooled downa bit but the fun an excitement carry's on right up to the end. Check it---Dok Washington
Event Review: The Jam
International Photojournalist, Carmen Garza of GigShots did a nice review of this long-running Blues, R&B, Jazz jam, and shared some pictures as well.
For those of you hardcore music lovers in search of a talent-packed, raw jam session with blues, R&B, and jazz flavors, check out The Jam at Eldorado Bar & Grill. The Jam occurs every Wednesday night from 7pm to 11pm and is a feast of the senses.
Local business marketing consultant and Harp player/vocalist, Buzz Fowler of First String Promotions, has heard it is one of the best places to experience true live jam as it was meant to be heard - in its purest form. Buzz opens the evening with his band, Toolshed, who performs blues, R&B, and jazz hits from the 60‘s to today. The group is comprised of some of the most talented and down-to-earth musicians you’ll ever meet. Toolshed is Buzz “Buzzsaw” Fowler (Harp/vocals/bandleader), Anthony “Bluesdog” Smith (percussion/vocals) andLewis Ray Cammarata (guitar/vocals), as well as a consistent band supporter who fills in frequently Mike Benanti (keyboard). This band is a definite “must-see” for those in need of that Motown fix. The evening progresses with alternating performances by other Phoenix based vocalists and musicians vying for an opportunity to play up to three songs with their peers.
Just less than a year before this review, the Jam showcased the talents of five to six participants. Present day players total from twenty to thirty musicians each week. First String Promotions celebrated its one year anniversary with The Jam at Eldorado Bar & Grill on Saturday, October 22, 2011. One of the Valley’s best kept secrets, The Eldorado Bar & Grill is a hidden gem. Just ask Joe and Barb Nowak, who have proudly owned the bar since 2005. It is truly a one-of-a-kind haven for locals to hang their hat - a place where everybody knows your name.
The Eldorado Bar & Grill is conveniently located at 8708 E. McDowell Road in Scottsdale. For more information on The Jam, contact Buzz Fowler at First String Promotions - buzz.fowler@firststringpromotions. com and for the Eldorado Bar & Grill, contact Joe or Barb Nowak.

There aren't any high-stakes Texas hold 'em poker games to be had at the El Dorado. The same goes for goldfish races, "name that tune" competitions, or any other kind of bar game or nonsense. Just a bunch of surly regulars downing alcohol, and lots of it. So why are we highlighting this dour-sounding booze bunker? Because it's an under-the-radar kinda place at the ass-end of Scottsdale where one can slip off from work for some undisturbed day-drinking amongst fellow barflies. Bottled... More »
