Description

Columbia Presbyterian Hospital just wouldn't be the same without this excellent Dominican steak house. Watching the enthusiastic chef tend a skirt steak-prodding, poking, and flipping-is a cinematic treat. The octopus salad and roast chicken ain't bad, either.

    The chicken at EL CONDE isn't much to look at, but I dare you to find better anywhere on the island (Manhattan, that is). This Dominican joint specializes in steaks, but I can't resist getting chicken--crisp-skinned, garlicky, and salty in optimum proportion. And the staff is just plain friendly.
