For most of the week, this east-side discoteca remains cold and dark, hidden behind a chain-link fence and locked up tighter than Fort Knox. On Friday and Saturday nights, however, the place comes alive with colored lights, hundreds of dancers, and Latin beats. The interior is home to a rollicking sea of dancing humanity, including plenty of caballeros y damas. Though the bar offers good selection of tequilas and south-of-border beers, the focus of El Capri is more on dancing than drinking. A steady stream of bachata, banda, and cumbia is pumped out by the DJs, while norteño bands occasionally perform. Gentlemen typically sport sharp cowboy garb and ostrich-skin boots, while ladies tend toward tight dresses, low-cut blouses, and skintight jeans. Even if you don't get to bailar with a bonita babe by night's end, chances are you'll eventually run into her mingling about or at the Mexican food joint down the street.
This popular discoteca is packed with mamacitas who keep up with the booty-shaking beats of cumbia, mariachi, banda, and norteño music blasting across the huge dance floor. Whether it's a live band or a DJ spinning, these Latin melodies will keep you meneando tu culo all night long. More »
You might feel a bit intimidated when approaching this popular discoteca, which is situated alongside a freeway overpass. But don't be put off by the parking lot crammed with Cadillac Escalades and Audis, the squad of Phoenix cops gathered outside keeping the peace, or the lengthy line out the front door. Really: Don't let it get to you, cabrón. Just get your ass past security and onto this hot club's expansive dance floor. Shake your culo until the wee hours of the weekend to such... More »
Start polishing those cowboy boots and dusting off that big sombrero, because if it's Tejano or norteño music you're looking for, El Capri is waiting. For a $5 cover charge on weekends, you get admission to Tejano heaven. Inside you'll find two massive dance floors packed with couples moving and grooving quebradita-style -- like a Mexican tango -- fun to dance to and even more fun to watch. Plus the bar's got a vast assortment of Mexican and domestic beers, and the service, like the clientele, i... More »
Salsa. Oh, how I remember it. Not the condiment. The dance. Salsa, disco, no matter what kind of music – there was a time when I always had a dance partner. But it's funny how time passes and things change. Butts get bigger, tits sag and going... More »
