Don"t be dissuaded by the fast-food glow of the premises, and surfaces covered in acres of brightly colored Formica-El Aguila ("The Eagle") is a very serious taqueria, and even though they often can"t offer you half of the wall menu, the things they always have (tacos, tortas, quesadillas) are unrelentingly excellent. The gimmick, which allows the place to compete with taco trucks, is overstuffing the tacos and sandwiches with twice the meat you"d normally expect. The tongue (lengua) is especially tender and rich, and so is the barbacoa (steamed goat), while the pork tidbits called carnitas are a little below par. Many of the pastries displayed at the end of the room are great-and cheap, too. Open 24 hours.
