Good sushi at fair prices keeps regulars coming back to this low-key East Village restaurant, but if you're planning a special night, it's worth it to spend a little more for really great fish. Some of the cooked dishes are particularly good here, like the hot pot specials during the winter.
The East Village has always been a bastion of the most reasonably priced sushi, but has rarely approached midtown places in quality, with a few exceptions like Hasaki and Koi. Joining their number, with scintillating sushi at sub-midtown prices, is Ebisu.
