Popular isn't a sufficient adjective to describe this shop specializing in chef Jay Valley's prepared eats. During lunch, Eatzi's seems to be nothing but lines. There are long lines at the counter; there are long lines for the cash register. Yet, the customers brave it all, deeming it all worth it. The Box Lunches are worth it. The entrées, like the Kobe meatloaf and the salmon croquettes, are worth it. So are the cakes and pies. Salads are big with customers in need of a quick, light lunch. But it's more than a midday meal spot. Breakfast see folks stopping in for the cherry cheese pinwheel, carrot pecan muffin and platters to share with their office mates.
Nation's Restaurant News reported yesterday that eatZi's will open two new spots in the 'burbs. The first will open on May 17 in Grapevine and will occupy 10,000 square feet "of freestanding retail sp... More »

Dear Eatzi's My Family & I had dinner tonight at the Market. And it was pathetic food the Roast Beef was like trying to eat leather boot there was no flavor . The only flavor it had was of a metal pan .The beef should have been cooked a lot longer and slower and the for the price of the dinner you should get more than an ounce and a half of beef. The Mashedpotatos need more milk in them you could have cut them with a knife. The green beans tasted like a metal pan.The Ham was dried out and tasteless when you take it out of the oven after cooking it cover it up so it does not dry out.The Cornbread should have been cooked more it was raw in some spots. The hamburger was tasteless you need to add some salt & pepper to it or something. The Macaroni and cheese tasted like water.Did the employs forget how to cook or did you get them from a local prison ?
You want cake? EatZi's has good 'uns, and there are other fine establishments named in this issue to help you with your frosted desires. Here, however, we're talking about the staff of life. You can keep your buttercream icing and your red-velvet masterpieces. For us, the true measure of a great bakery is its bread. Thick frosting and a butt-load of chocolate and sugar can produce a passable cake, but cranking out bread with a soft, pliable crumb; rich, yeasty flavor; and a crust that's... More »
The fruit is fresh. The milk is cold. The sushi's delivered daily (we think). The breakfast burrito is great. The ribs come slathered in a sauce that's tangy without being showy. The salsa is showy--who knew peaches and raspberries went well with Mexican spices? The salad offers more toppings than could be included--either here or on the greens. On the sandwiches, honey mustard is the best spread. The soup, when they have it, is worth hoarding. The microwavable meals are far better than... More »
Hate to cook? Don't have time? Then Eatzi's is the place for you. This market and bakery offers chef-prepared meals for people on the go, and the variety is outstanding. Eatzi's offers everything from lasagna and Spanish rice to King Ranch chicken and twice-baked potatoes. Just heat and eat. And if you're too lazy for the heating part, you can order from Eatzi's salad bar or sandwich bar. There's also a hot-food section that provides an excellent alternative to Boston Market. We suggest... More »
The bakery part of EatZi's may not get the recognition that the market's other fresh-cooked offerings do, but no one offers better fresh-baked breads and other baked goods than at this cook-owned deli. Once you've tried any one of these fresh breads you will understand why there is never an open parking spot at EatZi's. More »
There is something horrifying yet natural about seeing vultures and hyenas fight over the scraps of meat clinging to a zebra carcass. It highlights the animals' desperation for survival in the hard African landscape. What's our excuse for the skirmishes that occur at eatZi's? Sure, the food is great and pre-prepared for modern convenience. But, my God, are we savages? Go there to witness grown men and women fighting for pasta salads and sandwiches like Stalin-era Ukrainians fighting for... More »
