Tucked into East Village Music Store's charming little basement are dozens upon dozens of new and used guitars, synths, keyboards, and other musical paraphernalia. Feel free to practice your best Stereolab impression on their vintage Farfisas or rock out Kraftwerk-style on the old-school drum machines; the staff won't mind as long as you don't break stuff. On a recent visit I admitted I had no money and was just fooling around, and the genial response was "Have fun!"
